Mark Skaife may be just two rounds from drawing the curtain on his illustrious full-time racing career, but the Toll Holden Racing Team star hasn’t finished setting records just yet. This weekend at the Falken Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains Raceway, Launceston, Skaife will make his 213th Australian Touring Car/V8 Supercar Championship start, passing Holden legend Peter Brock to move into second position on the all-time list behind John Bowe (225).

In what has been a difficult and unforgiving season for HSVDT’s Rick Kelly and Paul Dumbrell, the word is to go for results in the final two rounds of the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship. While Paul Dumbrell pulled his #16 Autobarn Commodore to the front of the field with strong qualifying positions at Bathurst and, more recently, on the streets of Surfers Paradise, both he and fellow driver Rick Kelly battled through round 12 in Bahrain two weeks ago fighting setup problems and overcoming mid race incidents.

Glenfords Tool Centres, the naming rights sponsor for the Paul Cruickshank Racing #111 Falcon, have announced they will not be renewing their sponsorship agreement for the 2009 season and that they are in fact intending to exit all motor sport sponsorship as of the end of 2008. The announcement will see the end of a three year partnership with PCR that commenced in 2006. Glenfords played an integral part in the team being the first ever to graduate from the Development Series and establish themselves in the main Championship.

Lowndes to make 150th start |

TeamVodafone’s Craig Lowndes will make his 150th V8 Supercar start at the Falken Tasmania Challenge this weekend, and is aiming to maintain the form that he and teammate Jamie Whincup are currently enjoying. The team is going from strength to strength in the run home, having claimed every race win at the past three events. The long-held goal of a 1-2 finish was achieved at the last round in Bahrain, with a flawless and dominant display from the team.

IRWIN Racing’s Marcus Marshall is confident of a strong showing on his home V8 Supercar track at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains Raceway on 21-23 November. The 13th round of this year’s V8 Supercar Championship Series sees Marshall return to a track and surroundings he knows very well. Having been borne in Burnie, Marshall spent his formative years in Tasmania, watching countless races at Symmons Plains before the family moved to the Gold Coast.
