This thread is designed to talk about all aspects regarding Channel 7's coverage of V8 Supercars (like commentators, broadcast times, ad's, etc) without the need to create a new thread for each round.

THE ISLAND 300 TELECAST CHANGES

Because of Seven's contractual commitment to the Melbourne Cup Carnival telecasts and the decision to not do Bahrain this year, the Seven Network cannot do a telecast of Race 21 and qualifying on the afternoon of Saturday November 7th except in Perth.

As such they will do a late night replay, on Saturday night at Midnight.

They have now agreed also for BigPond to take this race LIVE on Saturday afternoon.

To clear all this up, basically because Seven has a contract to cover the four days of the Melbourne Cup carnival LIVE into all states - the Melbourne Cup carnival takes priority over V8 Supercars as such, the V8 Supercars can't air until midnight. Unless you live in Perth & due to the time difference, coverage can air after the Melbourne Cup carnival broadcast. FYI - 7TWO can't air the race live because anti-siphoning rules doesn't allow digital channels to take over broadcasts of sports which are on the anti-siphoning rules. This doesn't affect Sunday's broadcast of the event from 12pm - 5pm in ALL STATES

Bigpond will broadcast LIVE Channel 7's coverage of both Qualifying/Top 10 Shootout from 12:15pm AEDST (as normal) & Saturday's race from 3:25pm AEDST on V8TV (via bigpondtv.com).

Hope that clears things up for everyone!

They're putting animal NASCAR in front of actual track racing (with the cars)?

Oh well, if I'm not at the track I'll be more than happy to watch the telecast at midnight - be better than watching it on a lagging computer.

Guys,
I hope someone can give me some pointers here, as a fan in England it looks like the highlights coverage that we get has been axed. does anyone know where i can get coverage of the races online (preferably free)??

The telecast times for round 1 at Yas Marina on Channel 7 are

Saturday 12:30pm – 4:30pm
Sunday 1:30pm – 4:30pm

(Times are for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Adelaide)

I was never a fan of Mark Skaife, but I thought he did an excellent job last year.

Conversely, I like Matthew White as a host, but I wish channel 7 would boot him off the V8’s (and Today Tonight for that matter) and give him another gig like Sportsworld.

Bring it on.

yeah!! in America- Looks like our SPEED TV is finally giving us (one week) delayed two hour coverage of the V-8supercars this year! I already had one guy tell me they caught it by mistake and thought it was really cool! duh.
Skaife is very good and insightfull but in being so analytical can get a bit dry at times.

Carried on from the debacle at Winton, personally I think 7 stinks at V8 Supercars and should give it back to Ten!
