NTERNATIONAL motor racing royalty David Brabham arrived on the glitter strip today as Gold Coast 600 organisers began the 50-day countdown to the revamped event.

Brabham, one of 18 international co-drivers for the event, will compete in V8 Supercar events at Philip Island and Bathurst in the lead-up to the Surfers Paradise street circuit.

''I think the concept for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 is fantastic," he said.
"I cannot tell you the interest it has generated in the US and Europe."

Brabham will team up with Gold Coast based driver Alex Davison for the event.

''I was pushing to have David as my co-driver for the endurance events for some time and when the concept came together he was always going to be my first choice,'' said Davison.

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 will run from Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24.
