With the new international flavour in full swing, is the fad of going to other world circuits really worth it?

With the V8 Supercars backing up their claim as a world class series, surely going to international tracks would help build up their reputaion.......................in some cases, that answer is no. In 2005, the V8 Supercars went to the recently opened Shanghai International Circuit in which they had their biggest international crowd outside of Australasia but was it a matter of their giant population, massive motorsport fans or was it a case of good promotion?

With the recent fad of the Arabian events, will it really work in the long run? Sure they are world class circuits but they seem empty without people in the grandstands.

Other touring car categories such as the World Touring Cars and DTM go to world wide tracks and pull big crowds. Is it because they have cars relevant to their markets or are they a spectacle to watch?

Could these international races work better by having them rotated do different tracks each year to keep it fresh or do you people in the V8SFG community have better suggestions to this question?

I loved the tracks and I loved the racing - besides one Mr. J Whincup running away at the front.

The only problem I had was with the telecast being delayed - with the Yas Marina races I accidentally saw the race results before the telecast (I got unlucky on both days). I was more careful for the Bahrain event, but did see a quick shot of the #1 crossing the line first on Sky News.

I am all for the overseas events. Some people say this will kill some local tracks, but I think we can have a strong 'Premier League' that races at the best tracks in Oz and around the world, as well as a strong local comp that visits those places missed by the 'premier league'

Having an International race or two a year is/really cool as long as they're paid for the host primarily. I am surprised they haven't gone to Japan. Cars probably aren't sold there but Japan is a bit of a racing country with some good tracks.
The middle east F-1 races are sparsely populated too.
I'd love to get to see the cars in America but that won't happen.
Hockenhiem for Germany, Brands Hatch for GB, These are all seemingly just so far away though.
International valid reasons, 1- go to 'racing heritage' counties 2- go to places where these or similar type cars are sold 3- I guess the middle east thing is partially them trying to get interest in their county for people to go there for business too.
It would be a trip to see a V8sc and NASCAR double header at Sears's Point (Infinion Raceway) road course in California. the v8's would be so much faster!
