Well the Australian V8 Supercar season of 2010 kicked off...overseas at Abu Dhabi and the Bahrain International circuit. Despite the venues being high class and 5 star, is it a good thing for the series?
Fans were disappointed and angry to not have Clipsal the season opener but now we have experienced it, what do fans think? I have changed my view slightly, obviously its good to see V8 Supercars racing at places like Abu Dhabi and under lights, all but confirming the series is in very good health. I forget the drivers name but one of them made a very good point, all but 1 event from now on is in Australia so the teams don't have to worry about the season fly away late in the season when everyone is waiting for the year to end! The balance is right now between Aussie and NON Aussie events - the same as street and permanent circuits in my opinion. |

Pre-season Jus
One main thing stood out with the racing at Abu Dhabi and Bahrain... The majority of it was very boring. No safety cars during that time illustrates that point. Sure we had the battle between Frosty and Whincup at the end of race 4, but... err... what else? It reminded me so much of F1 just watching the cars going around the track with drivers making sure they didn't touch one another. C'mon we need to see more aggression in the field! Finally the real racing starts at Adelaide in two weeks |

Starting the Middle East shows how well the category is doing. To race at 2 world class circuits is a real treat for the drivers and teams. I do think driving on such long and wide tracks makes the racing become a little stale, boring and predictable. Also i think there was no biff n barge in the races due to being a fly away event. Not much spares around to fix a really broken car. So the drivers were being on the safe side of things.
I think once we come to Adelaide the shoulders become a lot more wider and this is were the season truly starts. I balance of Non Aussie and Aussie events is right, but what I dont think thats right is some of the rule changes in 2010 and the Permanent vs street circuits. |

Boring tracks, not really technical tracks. Designed for F1 cars with higher speeds and more tyre grip.
If they are going to do these. Do them first and get them out of the way and get back to this part of the world where they actually support them. Of course the drivers love these tracks, it's a big over seas holiday for them. |

adelaide is really appropriate to be the opening event, cause it's like a get together party and adelaide really on a good show

I thought Abu Dhabi was excellent. However, maybe not as a series opener? The night racing was truly awesome, the most interesting bit of V8SC racing Ive seen (since last year
As for Bahrain, I preferred the short track version. I liked the left hander at Turn 3, and the run down the straight adjacent to pit straight). It was a good event, but not the best, and certainly didn't match the evnt in 2008. I say make Clipsal the opener, then head to the Middle East, then back to NZ. Then over to Barbegello, Calder, Lakeside, Oran, Wakefeild... |

Or we could not have them at all, which I think 98% of V8 fans want. iSH4NE wrote: I say make Clipsal the opener, Eastern Creek... |

We need to remember that V8Supercars Australia where invited to go to Abu Dhabi, which I think is a great honour for our sport.
I know that I was one to bag out TC about this when it was announced that they where going over there, But after hearing TC explain why they went because of the invite I thought wow that is really great. I thought the Abu Dhabi track was just awesome, and to see the cars driving at night was super. Bahrain I thought was not as good , but we did get to see some panel rubbing. It could have been better if it had not been so dusty or hazy but you get that out in the middle of the desert But I will be glad to see the V8's back on home soil |

Dubai from the air, all you see is dust haze. You fly up through it as the plane in attitude.
If only i was flying back through Dubai at the right time to see the race. |
